They came, they saw, and they sang!

The Washington Revels Jubilee Voices/Mercer University presentation, “Wade in the Water,” an exploration of Gullah-Geechee culture and life in St Simons Island, Georgia, was a great success. The event had an enthusiastic, singing audience that filled a 250-seat venue; songs and stories of the local Gullah-Geechee community; and six filmed oral histories that captured the culture and spirit of these proud people. For Jubilee Voices, the experience was more than just a concert — it was an opportunity for the group to gain new insights, learn songs, and make new friends.
