Join us as we work to widen our circle by reaching out to the many communities in the DMV that have yet to experience the joys of reveling—and from whom we have much to learn of their musical and holiday traditions! The creation of the Lewis Legacy Fund Major Gifts Campaign evolved from the Washington Revels Board’s serious and committed examination of our efforts to be a force for good in the greater DC area. We recognized that we could do more than we were doing to enrich and diversify not only our current cohort of supporters, but also the lives of friends we have yet to meet.
Dividing our history into roughly two 20-year periods, which we called Revels 1.0 and 2.0, we have dubbed this new decade of outreach as Revels 3.0. To implement Revels 3.0, we set a fund-raising goal that was unprecedented in the history of Washington Revels—and that goal was $500,000. We have already collected more than $330,000 toward that goal, but we invite you to be part of Washington Revels future by donating directly to this new fund.

One of our plans for expanding our circle revolves around the establishment of an Artist-in-Residence program through which we would engage talented, dynamic artists in the fields of folk, traditional, or world music to spend extended periods of time working with Washington Revels singers, directors and producers to expand our musical horizons and share our musical traditions with recognized artists from around the U.S. and even around the globe.
We’re very excited about all the possibilities that are waiting to be explored as we honor the past and transform the future through the Greg and Susan Lewis Legacy Fund. And we invite all of you – our Washington Revels community – to join us in this worthy endeavor.
